Finding the right hotel can make a big difference when traveling, especially when you’re exploring a destination with a child. For our stay in Sapa, Vietnam, we wanted a comfortable, conveniently located hotel within our budget. We also needed enough space and a little corner where I could work when needed. After browsing through a travel app, we found that Bonjour Sapa Hotel checked most of the boxes on our list. We booked a king room, and it turned out to be a great choice for our family of three.

Although we didn’t get the mountain view we initially hoped for, we had a comfortable stay that made our Sapa experience enjoyable.

Booking Our Sapa Hotel

We booked our accommodation for a 5-day, 4-night stay at Bonjour Sapa Hotel through a travel app and paid 1,700,000 VND upon check-in.

For us, the price was reasonable, considering the room size, amenities, and location. We were also happy that the hotel was just several meters away from Sun Plaza, one of the most recognizable landmarks in Sapa.

Location was a major consideration because we wanted to explore the town on foot, have easy access to restaurants, and make it convenient for transportation pickups. This hotel seemed to offer exactly what we were looking for.

First Impressions: A Welcoming Reception

When we arrived, we were greeted by an open reception area that felt welcoming. It was a nice first impression after our 6-hour sleeper bus trip.

The hotel had a small elevator, so guests would usually go by 2-3 with their luggage. It was just enough to accommodate the three of us, our big trolley bag, and two smaller carry-on bags.

Our King Room: Spacious and Comfortable

The first thing we appreciated when we entered our room was the space.

We had a king-size bed that was big enough for the three of us to sleep comfortably. The bed was soft and just right—not too hard and not too soft. After spending hours walking around Sapa, having a comfortable bed to return to was something we truly appreciated.

The room also had a huge cabinet where we could fit all our belongings. This was particularly helpful since we were staying for several days and had luggage for three people.

There was a table with chairs, which became one of the most useful features of our room.

We used it whenever we ordered takeaway meals, and it also served as my little workspace when I needed to work. Having my own working space made it easier to balance our family vacation with my remote work.

The room was spacious. We could open our luggage without making the entire room feel cramped. We kept our shoes near the door, while our bags had their own space on the floor. Everything felt organized and comfortable.

The room was clean, the air conditioning worked properly, and the television was working well, too. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was there.

A Huge, Clean Bathroom

The bathroom was another pleasant surprise. It was huge, clean, and comfortable to use.

The hot shower worked well, which was especially important during our May visit. Sapa can get chilly, and after spending time outside in the cold and rain, a warm shower was exactly what we needed.

Is Bonjour Sapa Hotel a Convenient Location for Exploring Sapa?

One of the biggest reasons we chose this hotel was its location.

It was just a short walk from Sun Plaza, making it easy to find our way around town. Sapa Church and the town center were also within walking distance.

There were highly rated restaurants nearby, along with convenience stores where we could pick up snacks and other essentials.

We also loved how easy it was to explore Sapa at night. With vendors and street food stalls nearby, we could enjoy the town’s evening atmosphere without having to travel far from our accommodation.

Since the hotel faced the road, it was also convenient for transportation pickups when we wanted to visit attractions outside the town center.

Our Sapa Experience Despite the Rain

We visited Sapa in mid-May, and unfortunately, it rained for three out of the five days we were there.

Because of the weather, we missed some of the popular tourist attractions we had planned to visit. It was disappointing, especially since we had traveled all the way to Sapa to experience its famous mountain scenery.

But despite the rain, we still absolutely enjoyed our time in town.

We explored whenever the weather allowed, enjoyed the food, and appreciated the slower moments in between our adventures.

And having a comfortable hotel to return to made a huge difference. After walking around rainy, chilly Sapa, we could look forward to a warm shower, a comfortable bed, and a spacious room where we could relax.

Another useful service was the hotel’s laundry service, which even included shoe washing. This was particularly helpful after walking around in rainy weather!

Would We Recommend Bonjour Sapa Hotel?

Absolutely! Based on our experience, it was a practical choice for families and travelers looking for a comfortable, budget-friendly accommodation in central Sapa.

Our room had everything we needed, from a spacious king bed and ample luggage storage to a table for meals and remote work. Its location near Sun Plaza, restaurants, convenience stores, and popular town landmarks was another major plus.

The lack of a mountain view was a little disappointing, and the small elevator might be inconvenient for travelers with lots of luggage. But these were minor considerations compared to the overall comfort and convenience we enjoyed.

Would we stay at Bonjour Sapa Hotel again? Yes, especially if we were looking for a reasonably priced hotel near the center of Sapa.

Because even when the weather doesn’t cooperate, having the right place to come home to can make a trip worthwhile.
